Little Makalolo Camp

A charming, intimate camp in the south-east of Hwange, “Little Mak” features prominently on the mental maps of local wildlife, all drawn to its reliable waterhole. A log-pile hide affords unique, thrilling close-up views of elephants, and habitat diversity ensures year-round wildlife. Activities focus on game drives and morning nature walks. The many waterholes produce amazing sightings, or guests can relax in camp and wait for wildlife to come to them. The six spacious en-suite tents (including a family tent) are only surpassed in the experience stakes by the opportunity to sleep out at the Madison Pan star bed.

Linkwasha Camp

Linkwasha Camp lies in a private concession near the Ngamo Plains in Hwange National Park. Hwange is known for its prolific summer or green season game viewing, and Linkwasha adds an extra dimension during the dry season, when wildlife streams to drink from the pan immediately in front of the camp. Nine luxurious en-suite tents (eight twin and one family) make this the most exclusive of Hwange’s camps. The multi-level main area shares the same unimpeded views, and day and night safaris in open 4×4 vehicles, walks and village visits let guests get to know their neighbours, both animal and human.

Robins Camp

Robins Camp, now under private new management, offers an exciting revival of the iconic safari destination in Hwange National Park. Robins Camp is situated in the rugged northern Basalt area of the park, an area rich in natural water with seeps and springs dotting the area. It is the home to some of the last great buffalo herds in Africa, with herds of over 2000 still seen. Given the abundance of prey animals, it is no wonder that it also has the highest concentration of lion in the Park. Robins is also known for big populations of reedbuck, roan, sable and tsessebe as well as the usual herds of elephants and other species encountered in the Park. Particularly encouraging are the regular sightings of both Cheetah and Painted Dog. The scenery of Robins is varied with hills, kopjes (small bouldered hills) and vlei (grassed plains that flood seasonally) areas and has a lot to offer the wildlife enthusiast. We welcome children of all ages and guests can self-drive or choose a fully guided trip.

Sable Sands

Sable Sands Lodge overlooks the ancient riverbed of the famous “Dete Vlei” and is located within a private Forestry Concession on the outskirts of the unfenced and world-famous Hwange National Park. Conveniently located 8km from the Hwange National Park and 200km from Victoria Falls, Sable Sands offers easy access to these African gems. This ‘off the grid’ eco friendly safari lodge is owner and family managed and has steadily established a great reputation for their personalised and bespoke experience complete with a passionate team, homely food and exceptional elephant encounters. Comprising of sixteen spacious and open-plan thatched ‘rondavels’, simply yet elegantly furnished to create a blend of traditional culture, nature and modern convenience, this African Forest “home-away-from-home” welcomes guests to an exquisite safari setting in unspoilt surroundings.

Chikwenya Camp

Chikwenya overlooks a beautiful stretch of the Zambezi River in the eastern section of Mana Pools National Park, one of the most remote and beautiful areas in Zimbabwe. Views extend over open floodplains down to the legendary river and across to the mountains of the Rift Valley escarpment, while stretching inland behind Chikwenya are the dense woodlands so characteristic of the area. The canvas tents are set on low wooden decks and linked to the raised main area by pine walkways. A lounge, dining and bar area offer a sanctuary of hospitality and relaxation, while a pool deck and fire place offer alternate spaces to take in the scenery and passing wildlife. The area is renowned for its large numbers of elephant, buffalo, hippo and eland, especially in winter when they concentrate along the river – these and a variety of predators can be seen from camp.

Ingwe Pan Camp

Ingwe Pan Camp lies within the remote wilderness of Mana Pools National Park. The camp itself is within a private concession, offering guests an exclusive and personal safari experience. 8 Meru style tents overlook the pan’s southern side, guarded by towering jackalberry and nyala berry trees that offer an escape from the hot African sunshine. The tents are designed with neutral colours and made with natural materials, meaning that they can blend into the landscape without disrupting the sweeping views. Guests can enjoy watching elephants, impala and warthog playing and drinking from the water during the daytime, and most evenings you will be treated to the rare sight of a wild dog pack who visit the pan with their pups.

Ruckomechi Camp

Located in the legendary Mana Pools National Park, Ruckomechi enjoys incredible views across the Zambezi to the towering escarpment on the Zambian side of the river. Albida trees provide both shade and seed pods that are beloved of elephants, meaning that these charismatic creatures are never far away. Guest accommodation consists of ten spacious en-suite tented units, including two family units, and open 4×4 vehicles, motorised pontoon boats, canoes and good old safari boots facilitate the wildlife viewing. The camp even features a secluded outdoor bath for a luxurious sensory experience. Ruckomechi is open throughout the dry (winter) season.

Big Cave Camp

Big Cave Camp reposes atop an enormous granite whaleback commanding inspirational views across the famous Matobo National Park. Sophisticated African architecture incorporates colossal boulders into a comfortably appointed thatched lodge positioned amidst ancient Khoisan rock art. Retire at a day’s end to the natural rock-pool and sundeck, the Leopard`s Lair lounge and bar, a cave-style boma for pre-dinner drinks or the popular lodge library. The eight thatched A-frame cottages, each with en-suite bathroom and private balcony, resonate African creative flair. Find solitude within an intimate retreat as secluded as the original Kalanga grain bins that nestle amongst the rocks.

Waterberry Zambezi Lodge

Waterberry Zambezi Lodge, on the banks of the Zambezi, is 30 minutes from Livingstone and 40 minutes from Victoria Falls. A small, friendly and informal lodge, it’s the perfect setting for visiting the amazing Falls and enjoying all the activities around Livingstone. The lodge has seven thatched cottages set in beautiful gardens around the central restaurant, viewing lounge and deck. All rooms are en suite, with air conditioning, ceiling fans, mosquito nets and private terraces. Waterberry is within easy reach of Livingstone and the Falls, but well away from the general buzz of the busy town. Guests usually spend a day around the Falls and the town and the next at the lodge, enjoying all that Waterberry has to offer – river activities and amazing birding with top class guides. A highlight is the visit to a completely uncommercial local village where many staff live and where Waterberry has built and manages local pre and primary schools.
